Away Ride
The start point is the Hub on Newcastle quayside at 9:15.

Here’s a nice spring classic to stretch your legs.
This is graded blue as it’s mainly 'easy going’.
However, distance wise; it’s one of the longer rides we do at 60 Km or nearly 40 miles by the time we’ve finished.

About 75% is off road, making good use of waggon ways and cycle tracks.

Meeting point is The Hub carpark on the Newcastle Quayside.
The post code for your sat nav is NE6 1BU.

Please arrive no later than 09:15 for a prompt get away at 09:30

Bring plenty to drink and food to eat as there are no planned stops.

If we are making very good progress by the time we reach Tynemouth (at 35 KM) then we may be able to stop for a quick bite and coffee at Crusoes beach cafe (or similar)
this will depend on our progress and how busy the cafes are.

You will need £1.50 each for the ferry.

Farmers usually trim the hedges at this time of the year, so, bring plenty of inner tubes.

Route details:

0Km: From The Hub we go north through the Ouseburn and Heaton to Jesmond Dene to continue our route brushing the edge of Gosforth Park (racecourse) - at 10Km.

We then head east to the coast on old waggon ways and bridleways past Hollywell to Seaton Sluice - at 25Km

From Seaton Sluice we take in the coastal paths past St Mary’s Lighthouse and Whitley Bay, all the way down to Tynemouth at 35 Km.

From Tynemouth we head inland along the Tyne to pick up the ferry across to South Shields at 40 Km.

From South Shields we continue along the River Tyne using old waggon ways and cycle paths all the way to the Gateshead Millennium Bridge at 55 Km and back to the Hub at almost 60 Km.

Please let me know if you are coming.
Hope you can make it.
